NYE New Year's Eve Onboard The USS Hornet 2016

Arts and Entertainment

December 5, 2016

A Special BIG BAND DANCE Fundraising Gala for the Museum's Education Department. The Bay Area's best place to dance!  Three dance floors  on the enclosed, heated Hangar Deck! Free Dance Lessons by Jim Truesdale, former Fred Astaire instructor.

3 O'Clock Jump

3 O'Clock Jump a 17-piece band made up of some of the best swing and jazz musicians from the Bay Area. Their unique musical style blends the classic Big Band songs of the WWII era with the Rhumba, Cha Cha Cha, and Waltz.

The Swingin' Blue Stars

The Swingin' Blue Stars is a group of ladies who specialize in performing songs from the 40's and 50's. Formerly known as The Singing Blue Stars, they were originally The Singing Blue Star Moms, because the common bond of the members is that they have sons, daughters or other family members that are veterans of the U.S. Military. Some of them have "kids" that served recently in Afghanistan and/or Iraq. Their singing not only helped them to support each other, but has provided a joyous outlet that takes our older Vets and Seniors down "memory lane" once more.

Dance Instructor Jim Truesdale

If you are a bit rusty, never fear, free dance lessons will be provided throughout the evening by Jim Truesdale, a noted Fred Astaire dance instructor.

Silent Auction

Participate in the silent auction! Many local businesses offer exciting gift certificates, hotels stays, airline tickets, and other fun items. The silent auction raises money for the museum. Proceeds will benefit the Education Department.

Bar and Food Concessions

We will be serving a hofbrau style sandwich station, with salad and the cost is approximately $20 per plate. More food details will be announced shortly. Cash bar and food concessions also available. Please note there is no ATM onboard so bringing cash is recommended.
