Ocean County Library to Present Acclaimed Violinist
Dr. David Podles at Five Branches

TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Library is pleased to present world-renowned concert violinist Dr. David Podles, at five branches during September, October and November.

Lacey Branch, 10 East Lacey Road, (609) 693-8566 – “Slavic, Folk & Classical Music: A Musical Travelogue,” 2:30 PM Saturday, September 17. Get to know the cultures of Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Russia, Slovenia, Macedonia and more, through traditional and classical songs.  

Toms River Branch, 101 Washington Street, (732) 349-6200 – “The Music of Spain: Enchantment and Revelry,” 2:30 PM Saturday, September 24. Indulge in Spain’s rich musical heritage of flamenco, fandango, folk and classical selections, and songs influenced by Spanish composers.

Brick Branch, 301 Chambers Bridge Road, (732) 477-4513 – “Musical Fiesta of Latin Countries,” 2:30 PM Saturday, October 8. Be transported to nations including Mexico, Panama, Uruguay, Brazil, Cuba and Argentina through mariachi, salsa, tango, samba, cumbia, paso doble, and many other styles.  

Barnegat Branch, 112 Burr Street, (609) 698-3331 – “The Sensational 1970s,” 2:30 PM Saturday, October 22. Enjoy present a dazzling selection of songs that embody the era, including the Beatles, disco, memorable tunes of films and legitimate stage, and modern classical pieces.  

Long Beach Island Branch, 217 South Central Avenue, Surf City, (609) 494-2480 – “Musical Odyssey of Exotic Lands,” 2:30 PM Saturday, November 5. Take part in a sweeping musical world tour in the music of China, Korea, India, Kenya, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Turkey, and more.

Dr. Podles, laureate of three prestigious international competitions, has performed solo and in symphony, chamber, orchestra and ballet settings across Russia and the former Soviet Republics, and at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and other New York City venues.
