Volunteer Spotlight - Anita Stevens

Anita is amazing! After a 30-year career working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Aerial Photography Field Office and volunteering for 14 years as an usher with Salt Lake County Arts, Anita decided to look for some new interests. She searched for volunteer opportunities through Volunteer Match and discovered two posts that interested her: The Ogden Nature Center Gift Shop and a reading tutor position at a nearby grade school. In the fall of 2019, she signed up for both positions and worked until the pandemic forced everything to close. But when Covid restrictions eased, she picked right back up with the Ogden Nature Center and we have kept her pretty busy ever since.

Anita has volunteered for several events including the Bird House Competition, the Garden Tour, the Crepuscular Creep, Birds and Brews, the 5K Fun Run, National Trail Day at North Fork Park and now she regularly works at the ONC booth at the Ogden Farmers Market. She is responsible, creative, and represents the Ogden Nature Center very well.

Anita really enjoys the people she gets to work with and the variety of people who attend the events. In Anita’s words, “People who come to visit ONC want to be there just as much as the employees and the volunteers. We’re all there for the same reason……we love being at the Nature Center and we appreciate what ONC stands for and provides to the community.”

Thanks for all you do Anita! The Ogden Nature Center is lucky to have you!
