Fall Programs & Creatures of the Night!

Wild Wednesdays: Spiders & Arachnids all ages

Wednesday, October 11th / 3:45 pm

Spiders, mites, scorpions, oh my! Get up close and personal with a Nature Center arachnid and take a spider walk with an Ogden Nature Center teacher/naturalist in search of different species.

Wild Wednesdays are held every Wednesday at 3:45 pm.  FREE for members! or $5 adults / $3 children.Come learn about the plants, animals, and ecology of our region. This 20-minute lesson is led by a teacher/naturalist, with time to explore afterwards.

Reservations are not required. Please check in at the Visitor Center desk. Please note that the Ogden Nature Center closes at 5 pm and the gates close.

Plant Dyed Bandanas ages 16+

Saturday, October 21st / 10:00 am

Learn about incredible natural dyes by using hammered plants to create your own bandana design. Flowers, fabric markers, and cotton bandanas will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring additional materials if desired.  Please register by October 14th.

Bounding with Bunnies all ages welcome/geared for children 4-6

Friday, November 3rd / 3:00 pm

$5 for ONC members, $8 for nonmembers

Jackrabbits, cottontails, and hares, oh my! Have you ever wondered how far a bunny can actually jump? Why are their noses always wiggling? What’s the difference between your pet bunny and wild bunnies? In this workshop you’ll learn about rabbits and their cousins pikas, hares, and cottontails and make a fun bunny craft. 

Fall Trail Scavenger Hunt - all ages welcome

Saturday, November 11th / anytime between 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$1 per sheet

Admission is free for ONC members / nonmembers - daily rate: $5 adults, $3 children

No registration necessary

Check in at the Visitor Center front desk and pick up your sheets, then hit the trails for this fall-themed, self-guided scavenger hunt.

Information and Registration for Community Classes

Knee-High Naturalists: Leaves and Trees ages 3-5

Choose a date and time:

- October 17th / 10:00 am or 1:00 pm

- October 18th / 10:00 am

Join us for this year’s theme of seasons. Explore trees in the fall and learn what they do for both humans and animals. Learn the difference between evergreen trees (coniferous) and trees that lose their leaves (deciduous). Please call 801-621-7595 to pre-register.  Registration is required.

Creatures Of The Night all ages

Save The Date! October 27th and 28th / 5 - 8:30 pm

$7 ONC members / $10 non-members / Free for ages 2 and under

Join us for a non-spooky evening of trailside adventures. This fun and crazy night is packed with games, campfire stories, live owl and snake presentations and fall crafts. Get down low in the Spider Web Crawl! Meet a mad scientist and a silly fortune teller! And take a Crepuscular Creep where you’ll meet characters dressed as native Utah animals, each with a tale to tell.

Food trucks will be onsite - so bring some extra $ for Lucky Slice Pizza and Wimpy and Fritz tacos! Costumes and flashlights are encouraged. Dress for the weather.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. This event will be held rain or shine.

No pre-registration required, just pay at the door
