Wild Wednesdays

Every Wednesday at 3:45 pm

All ages

Come learn about the animals and ecology of our region. This 20-minute lesson is led by a teacher/naturalist, with time to explore afterwards.

4/5 — What Could a Fox Say? — Learn about the sounds of wildlife in our area, what the sounds could mean, and how to identify animals by their sound.

4/12 — Baby Birds — Learn about nesting birds in Utah, tricks to identifying eggs, and what to do if you find a baby bird out of the nest.

Reservations are not required. Please check in at the Visitor Center desk. Members are free and non-members pay regular admission: $5 adults, $3 children.

Wild Wednesdays are sponsored by my529: Utah’s Educational Savings Plan.

Floats & Fins & Things That Swim / Preschool Program

Choose a date and time: April 18th at 1:00 pm or April 19th at 10:30 am

Ages 3-5

Learn about fish, things that sink or float, and explore the tiny creatures that live in a pond.

Please dress for the weather. This program is 100% outside.

Please register by April 17th.

Celebrate Earth Day!

April 22 from 11am - 4 pm

All ages

This is a big day at the Ogden Nature Center! Enjoy a water-wise plant sale, a variety of Earth-friendly exhibitors & demonstrations, sustainability specialists, nature poetry, live entertainment, live birds of prey, food, puppetry, crafts, a bird quilt exhibit, a birdhouse house exhibit with over 100 entries, and many fun activities.

Explore the trails and learn what you can do to improve the health of the planet.

$4 members / $5 non-members / $3 children

No registration required!

Cell Phone Photography

Thursday, April 27th at 10 am

Ages 16+

Join local events coordinator and local artist Christina Miller for this fun session on tips and tricks to taking better photos with your cell phone, and then head out on the trails as a group to practice what you’ve learned while the Nature Center is wearing its best spring colors! All participants must have their own cell phones.

Please register by April 26th.

May Day Flower Bouquets

Sunday, April 30th at 4 pm

Ages 16+

Suprise someone you love — or choose to love yourself — with a May Day flower bouquet. Robbin Daffin of Hope and Evolution will provide materials and teach a simple flower arranging class for the quintessential May Day Bouquet. Materials will be American grown and ethically sources, or sourced locally. Meet in the Visitor Center. This class will be held outside if weather permits, or inside if its too chilly. We are holding this class on Sunday so your bouquet will be fresh for May Day!

Fly with the Flock 5K Fun Run & Pancake Breakfast

Saturday, May 6th, race begins at 8 am

Runners and families are invited to enjoy a casual, fun, trail run and an outdoor pancake breakfast at the Ogden Nature Center. The 5k course is two laps winding through 152 acres on dirt trails. Children 12 and under can run a 2.5k and young children can participate in a free, 100-foot kids dash with tree-cookie medals for every child who participates.

Building Fairy/Gnome Houses

Saturday, May 13th at 12 pm

All ages welcome

Listen to some of the many fairytales and myths about miniature creatures while decorating a tiny home for your garden. Craft supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring any additional materials.

Please register by May 6th.

Summer Camps / Volunteens / Adult Summer Camps

Ages 2-16

One of the most memorable experiences of summer for children — our summer nature camps get kids outside, in the field and learning about the natural world, while having fun. We still have a few openings in kids camps. Please register soon!

Teens

We offer a summer service & learning program for called Volunteens. Spend two days each week in the meadows and along the trails at ONC. Give back to your community, learn something new, make new friends, and be outside this summer. This is a great program for building memories and experiences with like-minded youth, and for building your resume. Find out more and register below!

Adults - Campfire & Star Party

Friday, June 23rd, 7:30 pm

Snuggle up with your date in this program for ages 21+ that includes making a pudgy pie dinner over the campfire and gazing at Jupiter and Saturn through a telescope while hearing some fantastic tales about the starry sky overhead. All food, water, and cider provided. Bring any other beverage you prefer.

Adults - Art in Nature

Friday, July 28th, 9 am - 4 pm

Get creative in nature with this day of exploring, sculpting, painting, and drawing. Adults ages 18+ will work with local artists sculpting with clay, painting with acrylics, and using pen and watercolor to explore the natural world around them. All materials provided. Optional box lunch at additional cost —choose at time of registration. Please bring a water bottle. Be ready to walk a little and create a lot.

Summer Camp Assistant Needed

Teens, ages 13+
