The newly renovated Olde Towne Plaza in Gaithersburg is getting even more upgrades, with overhead lighting (catenary lights) being strung to add nighttime charm. The installation will begin on Monday, August 8, and is expected to take about a week, weather permitting. The interactive water feature at Olde Towne Plaza will operate from 4 to 7 p.m. during the installation period, opening after the contractors have made the area safe. Note that the water feature is always closed on Mondays. Please visit the City’s website for status updates.

Extensive renovations were made while the Plaza was closed during the pandemic. It officially reopened on May 26, 2022. This inviting space in the City’s historic commercial center has a fountain for frolicking, benches for lounging, and shaded Adirondack chairs for relaxing.

The interactive water feature normally operates Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. From September 6 through September 25, the water feature will be open weekends only from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Please note that technical issues and inclement weather can affect operations. Please call the adjacent Gaithersburg Community Museum at 301-258-6160 or check the Museum's Facebook page to verify that the water feature will be operational on the day of your visit.

Olde Towne Plaza is located next to the train station at the corner of Summit and Diamond Avenues in Olde Towne Gaithersburg. Free parking is available at the nearby Olde Towne Parking Garage and in surface lots throughout the area.
