This recital program takes us on a quick trip around the western classical music world. Our trip begins in the English-speaking countries, and takes us to Italy for some famous arias. We travel then to its northern neighbors, Austria and Germany, to experience songs by some of the fathers of German lieder. A short trip to Russia follows to find romance. Finally, we return to Italy for one of the most famous love scenes in all of opera: Rodolfo and Mimi’s duet from Act 1 of La Bohème.

Meet the Artists  

Lyric soprano Jessica Moss has performed as soloist with the Amalfi Coast Festival in Italy, the Miami Music Festival, Northern Lights Opera, Opera Theater of Connecticut, Houston Operativo, and the Peabody Conservatory Opera in leading roles including Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan Tutte, the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen, Monica in Menotti’s The Medium, and Cendrillon in Viardot’s Cendrillon, and in scenes programs as Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème, Antonia in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, Nedda in Pagliacci, and in the title role of Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah. She was Grand Prize winner in the Charleston Symphony Young Artists Competition, First Place winner in the NATS Regional Competition, and a finalist in the Hal Leonard Art Song Competition and Civic Morning Musical Competition.
Jessica has participated in master classes led by Metropolitan Opera singers Ben Heppner, Eric Owens, Sherril Milnes, Michael Sylvester, Erie Mills, and Jonathan Beyer, and Eastman School of Music professor, Jan Opalach. She holds a M.M. In Vocal Performance from Peabody Conservatory where she studied with Phyllis Bryn-Julson and a B.S. in Music Performance from Roberts Wesleyan College in Voice as a student of Constance Fee. Special Guest, Chadwick Paul Dehaven II is a lyric tenor who received his training from Roberts Wesleyan College ('05) where he earned a bachelor’s in Music Education. He graces the stage with his stunning voice and winning smile. Chadwick has been a lifelong lover of music and cannot help but recognize all the frustration, pain, beauty, and joy that music brings to anyone who chooses to incorporate it into their life. While he spends much of his time honing his craft, Chadwick does not limit himself to the operatic stage. Currently, Chadwick works as a registered nurse having graduated from Genesee Community College in 2012 with an emphasis in emergency medicine. When he’s not busy saving lives or enriching them with his voice, he devotes his time to building his small business. If he’s ever caught with a spare moment, Chadwick can be found learning languages, flying, or somewhere enjoying the outdoors. 

Accompanist Susan Dantoni is a pianist, organist, music director and physician currently working in the Rochester area. Originally from Staten Island, NY, she has performed extensively in musical theatre, classical performance, vocal/instrumental accompanying, and liturgical venues. She is currently pursuing a degree in piano performance at Roberts Wesleyan College and has been the collaborative pianist for the Roberts Wesleyan Chorale, Women’s Choir, and the Pittsford Sutherland Choral Department. She is on the piano faculty for the Roberts Community Music School, an organist/pianist for the Rochester Christian Reformed Church. Susan was music director/accompanist/repetiteur for Così Fan Tutte at RWC this spring.

Susan is the winner of the 2021-22 RWC Concerto competition and is the 2022-23 Presser Scholar at Roberts. Susan resides in Pittsford with her husband, daughter, two dogs, and four cats. When not doing something musical, she can be found working as a physician for the IMA group.
