Orleans Chamber Of Commerce News - August 2023

Clubs and Organizations

August 2, 2023

From: Orleans Chamber Of Commerce

Happy August!

The summer is flying by in my head, but I know we have more than a couple great months ahead of us. Summerfest weekend has become a tradition in Orleans, and all the information that has been sent to me so far is posted online. It is not too late to be included. Send me your information. We have $5 off specials to Open Houses to Art Receptions and everything in between posted. The latest details are here. https://orleanscapecod.org/event/summerfest-2023-discover-orleans/

Yesterday and today, I attended One Cape Summit and honored to represent the Orleans Chamber of Commerce. The One Cape Summit is a regional forum for information, collaboration, and innovation across major policy issues and areas. The Summit brings together local and national leaders, practitioners, and subject matter experts to inspire informed action on the most pressing issues related to Cape Cod’s unique environment and economy.

Over the course of two days, attendees have and will hear about forward-looking, action-oriented initiatives and learn from peers advancing strategies to address housing affordability, water quality, and climate-related challenges, and support sustained and equitable economic opportunities. I look forward to sharing with our members in the coming weeks.

The annual Orleans Police Block Party is on Wednesday, August 16th. Main Street will be shut down at 5pm to allow Police Department time to set up. Here, at 44 Main Street, we will be hosting the Homeless Prevention Backpack program and the Firebirds Retail Store.

Believe it or not, I had a conversation with Santa this week to make sure his arrival time at the Orleans Yacht Club is at 10am on November 25th. Yikes! More details about Winterfest in Orleans will be coming later, but rest assured the planning has begun.

As always, please reach out if you would like me to stop by. Happy to at any time.

4 Tips to Maximize Productivity in your Business

Prioritize Tasks – By setting clear goals, breaking larger tasks into smaller ones, and scheduling deadlines, you are able to prioritize your work

Automate Tasks – Try a scheduling tool like Calendly or Doodle to allow clients and employees to schedule appointments without all the back and forth emails

Create Routines – Consider setting aside days and times for certain activities like creating social media content and project meetings. Dedicating a set time allows for more focused, productive work.

Take Breaks – It may seem counter-intuitive, but taking a short break allows you to return to the task at hand refreshed and refocused. Try scheduling tasks for 25 minutes, allowing yourself 5 minutes before the next one.

The CDP offers a range of small business programs to nurture the launch and growth of small business. Learn more by visiting https://capecdp.org/local-business.
