Jose Daniel Rojas was named the Town of Palm Beach’s 2022 employee of the year at a Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce breakfast Monday at The Breakers.

Rojas is a warehouse coordinator who works in the purchasing division of the Finance Department. He joined the town as a warehouse courier 21 years ago after completing a 20-year career as a medical supplier in the U.S. Army.

Mayor Danielle Moore, who handed out the award plaque to a surprised Rojas at the breakfast, said he is honest, respectful and professional.

"He’s always willing to go the extra mile," Moore said of Rojas. "He excels in teamwork. He puts public service first."

Rojas started the town’s online auction of its surplus property, which has generated more than $600,000 since it was launched five years ago, Moore said.

In an interview after the breakfast, Finance Director Jane Le Clainche called Rojas "the ideal employee."

"He’s always happy, always willing to help, always willing to go above and beyond for everybody and everything," Le Clainche said. "Everybody knows him, and they all love him."

As a recipient of the employee of the year award, Rojas received a check from the Palm Beach Civic Association and the Citizens’ Association of Palm Beach.

Known to his co-workers as "Danny," Rojas said he was "speechless" when he realized this year’s honor was going to him.

"I was really emotional," he said. "It’s a big award."

He said his 21 years as a town employee have been a great experience.

"Everybody is really friendly," Rojas said. "You treat people the way you want to be treated. I make it a positive day, every day."
