Colorado Event Will Continue As Planned Next Weekend
Aurora, CO - Although the Punkin Chunkin World Championship in Delaware has been postponed until 2015, the upcoming Punkin Chunkin Colorado event will continue to be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12, 2014 at Arapahoe Horse Park. Chunkers from the World Championship competition in Delaware have been invited to participate in the Colorado contest, which is now the only other sanctioned Punkin Chunkin event in the country.
"The show will go on in Colorado," said Jessica Hernandez, the Punkin Chunkin Colorado Event Coordinator. "Our venue at Arapahoe Horse Park is an excellent place to launch pumpkins and we've set up a one-mile range for chunkers. Many teams expect to launch pumpkins that far, so spectators should bring a pair of binoculars to watch the action."
Punkin Chunkin Colorado is an annual ritual where people travel for miles to see how far they can lob a gourd. This year, teams like Inertia II and Not In My Driveway expect to launch a pumpkin to awe spectators. It's the 17th year for this zany event that engages the energy and ingenuity of youth and adults, while inspiring a fresh twist of creativity. The best part…parking is FREE and entry for 12 & under is FREE. Adults and teens pay only $3 at the gate for one day or $5 for the entire two-day event.
