RE : Stop Domestic Violence

Health and Fitness

From: Glide

Have you read Saundra’s email yet, Friend?

Our work with perpetrators of domestic violence through the Men In Progress program is nothing short of transformative. It’s due in no small part to people like Saundra, who brings lived experience to this work — making her facilitation and leadership so powerful. That’s what GLIDE is all about.

Your donation can help GLIDE continue giving men the skills they need to gain stability in their relationships and lives, breaking cycles of violence for families in San Francisco. Will you make a gift today?

Friend, I’m often asked why I do this work as a female identifying woman of color?

I am passionate about Men In Progress because these men remind me of who I once was — violent. I only changed with therapy and people being there for me, just as we are doing with this program — because change is possible if you put the work in.

Men In Progress encourages participants to re-examine their beliefs about masculinity that reinforce the use of violence in their relationships and take accountability for their behavior. In his accountability letter, one participant wrote:

“I understand we both have choices in life to make but unfortunately, I chose to inflict pain as I seen fit in which I had no right to. Life is full of good and love and I am truly apologetic for not allowing you to experience and enjoy all that goodness life has to offer. These are my sincerest apologies.”
- M.R., a GLIDE Men In Progress program participant

Hundreds of GLIDE’s participants take accountability for their past actions, experience personal transformation, and learn how to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts without violence — ultimately helping women and families.

We’ve served over 400 men in the past three years — but we can’t stop now. With your help, we can continue to build a community to address domestic violence and strengthen our long-term response to the severe impact of the pandemic, economic turmoil, and systemic racism on individuals and families.

Please donate to GLIDE today in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and help sustain our life-saving work through the Men In Progress program.
