ReBoot Your Old Computer to Help Underprivileged Students

Schools and Libraries

March 15, 2016

Not sure what to do with that old, outdated or nonworking computer or laptop? Planting Pencils, a Connecticut based education charity, has formed a partnership with ReBoot Computers in Bristol to collect and refurbish old computers for underserved children.

The charity has been collecting school supplies such as pencils, pens, notebooks and calculators. However, the 13 year-old founder of Planting Pencils recognizes the critical need for all students to have access to technology.

"We are so grateful to Adam Turney and ReBoot for making it easy for people to donate their old equipment," said Ishaan Patel, Founder of Planting Pencils. "To be able to succeed in today's world, students really have to have computers and access to the internet."

ReBoot Computer Sales and Service is located at 176 Farmington Avenue on Route 6 in Bristol. ReBoot will accept computers, laptops, keyboards and LCD monitors in any condition. After any necessary repairs are made, the computers will then be distributed to deserving schools in Connecticut and beyond. All files and data should be deleted prior to donation in order to protect personal information.

Planting Pencils is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to raising awareness and collecting school supplies to improve access to education in underserved parts of the world. Formed in 2015 by a socially conscious 13-year-old boy, the goal of the charity is to use the seed of education to grow empowered children.
