Reflecting on 2023, Looking Ahead in 2024

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! At the beginning of this new year, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on 2023, and tell you about our plans ahead.

Over many decades in the art world, I’ve had a good share of eventful years. This past one was no exception. In April, we moved to a new home in the Annex of The Metropolitan Club and less than two months later re-opened our doors. It is a privilege to be at this historic address.

As part of this move, I decided to place greater emphasis on my art advisory services. I also increased my consulting and curating activities, culminating in Lyonel Feininger. Retrospective, which we co-organized with the Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt. Accompanied by a substantial catalogue, the exhibition features 160 paintings, drawings, and watercolors, as well as caricatures, woodcuts, photographs, and objects that show the full scope of Feininger’s prolific career. I hope you’ll have a chance to visit it before it closes on February 18.

This year, I’ll be intensifying my ongoing work on Lyonel Feininger's legacy with the publication of a biography of the artist and the release of the second and third installments of the online catalogue raisonné of his paintings. I’m also excited to be able to access rare, important paintings newly coming to market. Feininger’s work, along with that of Max Beckmann, Otto Dix, George Grosz, Wassily Kandinsky, Gabriele Münter, Paul Klee, and many other modern masters, remains available in our collection.

I’d like to close with my deep gratitude to my team in New York and Berlin. Similarly, I thank all of you for your loyalty and friendship in 2023. I look forward to another successful year together.

Kind regards,
Achim Moeller
