Registration Now Open For Melrose Parent University

Melrose Education Foundation’s annual Parent University workshops for parents and caregivers will be held in the Melrose High School Learning Commons, 360 Lynn Fells Parkway on Saturday, November 19, from 9 a.m. — 12 p.m. The event is free; however, registration is required at: http://www.melroseedfoundation.org.

Workshops will cover a range of education and parenting topics relevant to children ages preschool through high school. Topics include Understanding the City Budget: Why it Matters to What We Value; Getting Started: Understanding the College Admissions Process, and the following others:

- Saving and Paying for College
- Elementary Social Emotional Learning: Tools You can Use at Home
- Food for Thought: Nutrition and Your Health
- Getting Involved in the School Community
- Sitting with Discomfort: Emotional Flexibility and Your Teen
- The Nurtured Heart Approach: Transforming Difficult Behaviors
- Spreading Fun, Reducing Fear: The Unique Contribution Coaches Play in Supporting Anxious Athletes
- Understanding the City Budget: Why it Matters to What We Value
- “Research shows that parent involvement leads to higher rates of academic success for children,” said Mary Caddle, President of the Melrose Education Foundation. “Melrose Parent University is designed to increase parents’ ability to support students and to understand current trends in education. And we’re so pleased to offer an in-person event again; the opportunity for connection and conversation is much needed.”
