WASHINGTON, D.C. –Today, the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) announced the election of their new leadership and historic membership for the 118th Congress. Rep. Shontel Brown (OH-11) was named to serve as Communications Task Force Co-Chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus.

“With an unprecedented number of women serving in the 118th Congress, we have a unique opportunity to ensure that our voices are heard,” said Rep. Brown. “As a Communications Task Force Co-Chair, I look forward to elevating the wins achieved last Congress, like protecting women in the scientific workplace through the CHIPS and Science Act, while working to advance important legislation this Congress, such as the Paycheck Fairness Act, to end the wage gap for good. This role also provides an opportunity to be at the forefront of combating extremist legislation that undermines women's rights to abortion and contraception. I am confident that the diverse leadership in the DWC will be instrumental in advocating for women's rights in Northeast Ohio and across the country.”

This Congress, a record-breaking 94 Democratic women are serving in the House of Representatives, all of whom are members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus—including 16 Democratic women newly elected in the 118th Congress. The Democratic Women’s Caucus in the 118th Congress will also be the most racially and ethnically diverse in history.
