WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA) issued the following statement after President Joe Biden signed the Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2021 into law, expanding health care services and benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits and toxic substances while serving our country:

“This is a historic day for millions of veterans across the country who have suffered with debilitating and fatal illnesses. The Honoring our PACT Act, which includes my COVENANT Act and Veterans Disability Claims Notification Improvement Act, keeps our promise to those who fought for us and their families. As a 20-year Navy veteran, I am proud to have worked with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in the House to pass this lifesaving legislation and expand health care services to our veterans. Congress has a duty to provide for those who served our country, and the PACT Act is an important step to fulfill that duty. I want to thank our veterans and their families, veteran service organizations, and the many of advocates across the country who worked tirelessly to make the PACT Act the law of the land. There is more work to be done for our active-duty personnel, veterans, and military families, and I will remain a champion for those that have fought for us.”
