Rep. Nehls Votes Against Inflation, Recession, and IRS Army Act

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) voted against H.R. 5376, the Inflation, Recession, and IRS Army Act. This “Build Back Better” copycat claims to lower inflation by raising corporate taxes, giving the IRS an $80 billion slush fund, and funding “Green New Deal” policies. Following the vote, Congressman Nehls released the following statement:

Congressman Troy Nehls said, “This $430 billion bill will kill jobs by raising taxes on small businesses and does nothing to reduce the inflation that Americans are feeling right now. Our country is in a recession and this bill will increase taxes on small businesses by $225 billion at the worst time. The Democrats claim to target large corporations, but the reality is this bill will negatively impact families with higher prices and fewer jobs. Worse still, this bill will weaponize the IRS with $80 billion to hire 87,000 agents to sift through the bank accounts of Americans across the country. I completely oppose this far-left attempt to turn America into a Socialist welfare police state.”
