Government and Politics

April 4, 2024

Charleston, WV - West Virginia Republican Party (WVGOP) Chairman Matt Herridge released the following statement celebrating two more counties flipping from Democrat to Republican and encouraging voters who believe in the Republican Party’s common sense, conservative ideals to change their affiliation today!

“This month, the West Virginia Republican Party (WVGOP) was thrilled to learn that there are now more registered Republicans than Democrats in Lincoln and Wyoming Counties! Those who have followed West Virginia history and politics over the years understand how momentous it is to see so many counties that used to be regarded as Democrat strongholds flip to Republican. West Virginia voters are leaving the Democratic Party because it no longer represents them or their values. Republican momentum is through the roof, and our Party’s demonstrated leadership and proven results continues to inspire confidence in West Virginia voters.”

“There are now only 15 counties in West Virginia in which Republicans do not outnumber Democrats, and that number is dropping by the month. As the voter registration deadline nears for the upcoming primary election, the WVGOP wants to remind voters that the deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation is April 23. You can do this online at GoVoteWV.com. 2024 will be a great year for Republicans, and we are doing all we can to deliver the biggest victories yet!”
