Join the men and women of the Blue Springs Police Department in celebrating National Night Out Against Crime from 5:30-8 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 4. This fun, family event brings together residents, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and local officials for an evening focused on crime prevention and safety. 

“National Night Out is an important step to strengthening the crime prevention partnership between our community and our police and first responders,” Mayor Carson Ross said. “This free event gives residents the opportunity to meet the Blue Springs officers and civilians working to keep our community safe.”

The celebratory block party will feature demonstrations and displays from the Blue Springs Police Department, Central Jackson County Fire Protection District, Southern Jackson County Fire Protection District, and other local public safety agencies. Visitors can also enjoy free hayrides through Downtown Blue Springs from 5:30-7:30 p.m., free food, live entertainment, and more.

“National Night Out is a night of fun and community and allows our officers to personally interact with our residents,” Officer Doug Heishman said. “It’s the perfect family outing with information about crime prevention, health, and safety, as well as free food, games, prizes, live entertainment, and much more.”

National Night Out was created by the National Association of Town Watch to spotlight the role of the community in crime and drug prevention. The first event took place over 30 years ago.
