Our Town may be little, but our 4th of July celebration sure isn’t!

The party never ends for the Riverton 4th of July Committee, who always work hard to make sure we have another amazing season of patriotic festivities just for you.

Cocktail Party
7:00 PM  11:00 PM
Location: Riverton Yacht Club
Do you love music and dancing? Delicious appetizers with beer and wine? Then you can’t miss the Riverton 4th of July Cocktail Party!

This hugely popular event has a history of selling out, so pair up with some friends and lock in plans right away. Tickets are $50 per person and are available at Home off Main or by contacting Becca Grimes at 856-340-1067 or [email protected].

The cocktail party is a rain or shine event; no ticket refunds will be offered.  No one under 21 will be admitted.

House Decorating Contest

Want to show off your patriotic spirit? Enter the House Decorating Contest by June 29th to do just that!

Deck out your home with your best flags, bunting, and star-spangled decor to win. Businesses and homes are welcome and will be judged together in one category this year.

Judging will take place on Sunday, July 2 and a map of the house decorating route will be shared on our social media.

Winners will be announced on July 4th at Riverton Memorial Park after the parade.

Concert in the Park
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Location: Riverton Memorial Park
Join us for the annual free Concert in the Park featuring the incredible bands Craig Bickhardt and JEM & the Vibe!

Food is available for purchase from local vendors beginning at 5 PM, and music will begin at 5:30 PM. Bring your lawn chairs, bug spray, or a blanket for maximum comfort!

Our Annual 5K race through the historic town of Riverton! Bring your family and friends, and have fun cruising the shady, spectator-lined routes through Riverton on The 4th of July!

Day of registration will be available starting at 6:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Family Center at the corner of 4th Street and Thomas Avenue in Riverton.

1 Mile Run for Fun

Location: Second and Cinnaminson Streets, Riverton, NJ
Our shorter race, the 1 Mile Run for Fun is a great way for kids and families to start the 4th of July festivities!

Course
The race begins on Second Street, near the intersection with Cinnaminson Street, and travels throughout the historic streets of Riverton.

Day of registration will be available starting at 6:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Family Center.

Registration is $10.

126th Riverton 4th of July Children's Parade
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Location: Riverton Yacht Club
Join us for the historic 126th annual Riverton 4th of July Children’s Parade, the cornerstone of our wonderful celebration! The parade begins at the Riverton Yacht Club and travels up Main Street, ending at Riverton Memorial Park. We look forward to seeing you there!

No registration is required to participate in the Riverton 4th of July Parade; all you need to do is follow the signs the morning of to the location that makes sense for your group. No business marketing is permitted in the parade.

For floats, we offer a $100 Best Float award, which is announced at the Park Games following the parade.

Lineup Information
Lineup Times:
-Lineup begins at the riverbank at 9 AM.
-Signage and volunteers will direct participants to the appropriate lineup location.
-All participants must be on the riverbank no later than 9:30 AM prepared to march in the parade. Street closures begin following that and make getting to the lineup difficult.

Lineup Locations:
Please do not drive to the riverbank to drop off participants during the lineup times. Park remotely and walk to the line-up site.
-Bikes, Strollers, Kiddie Cars - Baptist Home Driveway.
-Floats - First Block of Lippincott Avenue facing the river.
-Classic Automobiles (must be 25 years or older) - Bank Avenue south of Lippincott Avenue. Line up on the side closest to the river facing north. Commercial vehicles advertising products or services prohibited.
-Fire Companies - Bank Avenue north of Main Street, facing south.
-Parade Dignitaries (Councils, Clergy, County/State Officials) - Meet at the southern edge of the Yacht Club parking lot; the Parade Coordinator will direct you.
-Marching Bands & Musical Groups - Location will be made by arrangement with the parade coordinator.
-All Other Walking Groups - For everyone’s safety, please remain on south side of Yacht Club on the grass behind the snow fencing. A Parade Committee Volunteer will direct you when it is time to enter the street.

Park Festivities
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Riverton Memorial Park
Who doesn’t love games and fun in the park?  Beginning immediately after the parade, join us for the singing of the National Anthem and festivities at Riverton Memorial Park.  We’ll announce the winners of the Best Float and House Decorating Contests, too!

The Great Joe Zaneski Downhill Race
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
The Annual Great Joe Zaneski Downhill Race tests homemade box cars on the steepest hill in town, Elm Terrace. Gravity is the only power permitted for these homemade vehicles that have been crafted in garages across town. Come watch them test their speed!

Make sure to fill out the Registration Form below and have it ready for our Downhill Coordinator on the 4th! Vehicle check-in takes place at the top of the Elm Terrace hill at the intersection with Park Avenue, and the event starts at 2:30 PM.

Prizes Awarded in Two Categories:
- FIRST PRIZE: $75.00
- SECOND PRIZE: $50.00
- THIRD PRIZE: $25.00

Age Categories:
- Category One: 5-10 years old
- Category Two: 11-17 years old
- Category Three: Kit Cars (one award)
- Category Four: Adults (bragging rights only!)

Official Rules:
- The vehicle must be between 3 to 8 feet in length.
- The driver must be seated.
- Helmets and Seat Belts are required.
- No open-toed shoes!
- All vehicles need a functioning brake.
- No Skateboards, Bicycles or Scooters.
- No powered vehicles.
- Only one person (driver) is allowed in the vehicle.
- Each vehicle may be entered in only one category.
- Must have at least 4 wheels (max. wheel diameter: 10 inches)
- JUDGES HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO NOT ALLOW A VEHICLE TO RUN IF THEY FEEL IT IS UNSAFE. Please build your racers for safety!

Pet Pageant
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Come one, come all to the 4th of July Pet Pageant! There’s no critter too big or small, too scaly or feathery, too anything for this event!  We’ve seen all kinds at the Pet Pageant, and awards are given in multiple categories for the variety of creatures that turn up to celebrate.  

Winners will be announced during the event and will receive gift certificates to a local business! No preregistration required.

Raft Race
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Location: Riverton Yacht Club

The Raft Race is a must-see event! Come on down to the Riverton Yacht Club to watch our intrepid sailors sink, swim, and occasionally paddle their way to victory!

Registration for both races begins at 5:00 PM, and the races kick off at 5:30 PM.

Raft Race
Contestants steering planks of polystyrene, plywood-topped inner tubes, PVC half-pipes with garden rakes, kitchen brooms and Lego-like plastic paddles, because anything truly from the nautical realm is not allowed in this zany race. That’s right, if it’s from a real boat or raft, it’s not allowed!

Awards
Awards are presented for creativity, biggest spectacle, best-dressed and other honors. Be on the lookout for pirate attacks!
- First Place: First raft to cross the finish line.
- The Iron Pier Trophy: The highest honor, awarded to the craft with the best harmony of creativity & engineering. Chosen from the first fifteen rafts to finish.
- The Glamour Award: Awarded to the best-dressed crew.
- The Flotsam & Jetsam Award: Awarded to the raft more likely to cause a spectacle than win the race.

Rules
- All participants must wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets during the race.
- All participants must wear shoes or sandals at all times before, during, and after the race.
- For every two crew members under 12, there must be one adult on the raft.
- Anyone acting without regard for the safety of others and themselves will be disqualified and required to leave the race. This includes all fireworks.
- No spectators are permitted on the floating docks.
- Children under 12 are required to wear Coast Guard-approved life jackets to be on the pier

Construction of Rafts:
- All rafts must be homemade.
- Any type of boat or surfboard is not permitted.
- Each raft must carry a minimum of four passengers.
- Rafts must be human-powered.
- Commercially-manufactured paddles are not permitted.
- Oarlocks are not permitted.
- Parts and materials commercially manufactured specifically for nautical purposes are not permitted.
- All rafts must have a flagstaff to fly the Raft Race flag while finishing.
- Competitors are required to remove their rafts and clean up their trash immediately after the race.

Cardboard Boat Regatta
Sailors will construct and race boats made entirely of cardboard in a course set in the Delaware River. Can they complete the course without sinking? The course will be approximately 600 feet long and will have at least one turn.

Rules
1. All sailors must wear Coast Guard-approved personal flotation devices and closed-toe shoes
2. Each crew must have a minimum of 2 sailors and a maximum of 6 sailors.  The minimum age is 12.

Construction of Rafts
Allowed materials: Corrugated cardboard, water-soluble caulk or silicone sealant, water-based wood glue, water-soluble outdoor latex paint.
- NO foam, plastic or wood.
- NO wrapping the hull with tape, plastic, shrink wrap, etc.
Paddles may only have one blade.
Building Tips: check YouTube for inspiration, build a test model, review these cardboard boat building tips, and get free cardboard from appliance stores, big box stores, furniture stores, and delivery companies.
