Sebastiao Salgado: Magnum Opus
Exclusive Platinum-Palladium Prints

South Sandwich Islands, 2009

The MAGNUM OPUS represents Sebasti?o Salgado's major works over five decades of photographic expeditions around the world. These iconic images, thoughtfully curated by Sebastião Salgado and Lélia Wanick Salgado, are drawn from recently completed projects Amazônia and Genesis, each the result of seven years’ work, as well as from Other Americas, Sahel, Workers, Serra Pelada's Brazilian gold miners, and the burning oil fields of Kuwait. This is the first time that an important selection of Sebastião Salgado’s work has been printed using platinum-palladium, which, due to it's singular beauty, is the ultimate expression of photographic processes. This represents a rare opportunity to own a magnificent work by one of the most renowned photographers of our time.

“When I take a photograph, I engage my entire cultural, human and social heritage... A photograph is taken in a fraction of a second, but you need a whole life in order to create it.” - Sebastião Salgado

About Platinum Prints

The platinum-palladium printing process is a photographic technique renowned for its exceptional aesthetic and archival properties. Each print is coated by hand on 100% cotton paper with the rarest and most precious metals: platinum and palladium. Compared to conventional black and white silver prints, platinum-palladium prints exhibit an expanded tonal range, three-dimensionality, and a uniquely luminous quality. A platinum-palladium image, properly preserved, can last thousands of years.
