ARIZONA -– Yesterday, the Arizona Supreme Court upheld Arizona’s draconian 1864 ban on abortion without exceptions for rape or incest as Arizona’s current abortion law. Today’s episode of the Lake Tapes shows Kari’s “clear record on” abortion –  endorsing the “draconian” 1864 abortion ban.

Lake has repeatedly praised the dangerous 1864 abortion ban, saying she was “thrilled” about the ban and calling it a “great law.” The ban has no exceptions for rape or incest and would put doctors in jail for providing care. When asked if her views on the 1864 ban had changed, Lake said “I haven’t changed, actually.”

Kari Lake: “Obviously, I think Roe v. Wade should be overturned, and I think the Supreme Court, I have a good feeling that they’re going to do the right thing this time. And again, I’ll echo what Steve just said, we have a great law on the books right now, if that happens, we will be a state where we will not be taking the lives of our unborn anymore.”

Kari Lake: “I’m incredibly thrilled that we are going to have a great law that’s already on the books. I believe it’s ARS 13-3603. So it will prohibit abortion in Arizona except to save the life of a mother. And I think we’re going to be setting the, paving the way and setting course for other states to follow.”

Host: “The new law banning abortion or the new law banning abortion in Arizona after 15 weeks, there’s that law and there’s a territorial era law which bans all abortion. Zippo. Over. Which law do you think should take effect?”

Kari Lake: “My personal belief is that all life matters, all life counts, and all life is precious. And I don’t believe in abortion. I think the older law is going to go into effect. That’s what I believe will happen.”

Host: “OK, and you approve of that? What, at conception?”

Kari Lake: “I believe life begins at conception.”

Host: “What do we do about abortion pills? What do we do about it?”

Kari Lake: “I don’t think abortion pills should be legal.”

Interviewer: “Tell me. Abortion is effectively banned in the state right now. Tell me, is that something that you support?”

Kari Lake: “I support saving as many lives as possible.”

Kari Lake: “We’re all about saving lives. And there’s not one thing we should be ashamed of. When I ran for Governor, they tried to tell me you can’t talk about being pro-life, you need to change your stance and I said, Are you kidding? You really want somebody who would run and change their stance on something that is so near and dear to the heart. And instead I turned it around, and I said, we’re on the right side of this. And we need to wake people up as to what the other side is pushing.”

Interviewer: “Talk to me about abortion when you ran for Governor …you supported the kind of draconian pre statehood law that was, they were talking about, I noticed that there’s a slight change in your view today–”

Kari Lake: “I haven’t changed, actually. No.”
