WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement ahead of the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the first anniversary since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned this landmark decision.

“Fifty years after the Supreme Court ruled that women had the constitutional right to make decisions over their own bodies, we are now unfortunately back to the era before Roe v. Wade when women’s health care choices were allowed to be dictated by politicians,” said Senator Rosen. “We have seen a surge of anti-choice states passing strict abortion bans without exceptions for rape, incest, or instances when the health or life of the mother is at risk. On this 50th anniversary of the decision in Roe v. Wade, I am committed to fighting back against any efforts to enact a nationwide abortion ban and will never stop working to restore and protect women’s reproductive rights across our nation.”

Senator Rosen has been a leader in fighting attacks on reproductive rights. When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, she issued a statement calling for restoring and protecting reproductive rights. Last Congress, Rosen voted in support of and helped introduce the Women’s Health Protection Act, legislation to protect the right to access reproductive health care and safeguard against dangerous state-level abortion bans and restrictions.
