Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded Alliant Insurance Services a 2023 Make More Happen Award for its volunteerism with Second Harvest, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger and bringing community resources together to feed people in need through empowerment, education and partnerships. The award includes an initial donation of $5,000 for Second Harvest, which can be doubled to $10,000 just by having community supporters vote online. 

Starting Monday, October 2, the Alliant Insurance Services and Second Harvest community story has been highlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at www.agentgiving.com/Alliant-Insurance-Services, where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives a mix of at least 500 votes and comments, the $5,000 donation will be raised to $10,000. 

This donation will allow Second Harvest to fund weekend meals and snacks for an entire school year to 56 kids enrolled in their Bite2Go program. Alliant Insurance Services volunteers directly with Bite2Go, preparing and delivering kits to a local elementary school to ensure kids don’t go hungry on the weekends during the school year. Keeping their volunteerism local gives hope to a generation where one in six children faces chronic food shortages at home.

Every week, Alliant employees volunteer with Second Harvest to pick-up and deliver 100 food kits to a nearby elementary school. The team also commits their time by sponsoring field trips, purchasing winter garments to keep them warm through winter and building end-of-the-year goodie bags.

Throughout 2023, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 37 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.
