Washington, D.C. – United States Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) released the following statement on the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade:

“Fifty years after the Roe decision, women have been cheated. Our freedom to make our own decisions about our health and our futures has been ripped away by Republican extremists who have decided that they can crowd into the examining room and decide our fates. Today, I am furious, but I am more committed to this fight than ever.

"I don’t want to make reproductive health care decisions for politicians – and I don’t want them making those decisions for me, my daughter, or millions of other women.

“Republican extremists have come for our constitutional rights, and millions of us are fighting back. When we can get abortion rights on the ballot, we’ve said in one, big, loud voice: back off.

“These Republican extremists are a small and unpopular minority. They have power right now, and they may choose not to hear us, but they underestimate our determination. We will fight for our constitutional right to abortion.

“Senate Democrats will fight to make Roe v. Wade the law of the land again – and we will not give up because women will not go back. Not now, not ever.”
