Shady Sheehy’s Lies Stack Up

Government and Politics

May 1, 2024

Sheehy’s dishonesty is on full display for Montanans as he is pressed on his lies about his “rural” upbringing, his “cowboy” credentials, and a gunshot wound he received

Helena, MT –
Sheehy’s repeated lies and inconsistencies are on full display for Montanans as they start to learn more about the multimillionaire transplant running for U.S. Senate:

  • Sheehy repeatedly claimed on the campaign trail that he grew up in “rural Minnesota” – when he actually grew up in a multimillion-dollar lake house in Shoreview, 15 minutes from Minneapolis and near his elite private school in St. Paul.
  • Sheehy also claimed to be a rancher, despite not running the day-to-day operations of the ranch land he bought in 2020. Sheehy uses his vanity ranch for brand promotions and influencer photo shoots.
  • Sheehy has given multiple accounts about a gunshot wound that records say were a result of him shooting himself in the arm in a parking lot in Glacier National Park in 2015, which Sheehy now claims is a lie. Sheehy has still refused to release his medical records from that day.
  • Sheehy said he “bootstrapped” his company “from scratch,” while conveniently omitting the hundreds of thousands of dollars he raked in from his family members to start his business. Now, filings show that his business is “deeply in debt, hemorrhaging cash and at risk of failing to meet its financial obligations.”
  • Sheehy is trying to hide his call to transfer public lands. After explicitly calling for public lands to “get turned over to state agencies, or even counties,” Sheehy is now falsely claiming on his website that “Tim opposes a federal transfer of our public lands” in an effort to cover up his unpopular stance.
