Earthquake response plan approved

The Board of Supervisors today approved a comprehensive earthquake response plan, establishing guidelines for immediate response and early recovery from a major seismic event including specific actions to be taken by county staff, emergency response personnel, and other agency partners. The plan by the Department of Emergency Management will serve as a supplement to the county’s overall Emergency Operations Plan, which was revised in March following several years of damaging wildfires. Read full story

In accordance with AB 361, Governor Newsom’s March 4, 2020 State of Emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sonoma County Public Health Officer’s Recommendation for Teleconferenced Meetings, and the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Resolution 21-0399, the December 16, 2022 Board of Supervisors Special Meeting will be facilitated using a dual format with listening and participation available through Zoom and in person.

This is a simultaneous meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Sonoma County, the Board of Directors of the Sonoma County Water Agency, the Board of Commissioners of the Community Development Commission, the Board of Directors of the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District, the Sonoma County Public Finance Authority, and as the governing board of all special districts having business on the agenda to be heard this date.  The five District Supervisors also serve as the Board of Directors of the Sonoma County Water Agency, the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District, the Sonoma County Public Finance Authority, and as the Board of Commissioners of the Community Development Commission. Each of the foregoing entities is a separate and distinct legal entity.  The Board welcomes you to attend its meetings which are regularly scheduled each Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Your interest is encouraged and appreciated.

-LISTEN AND ATTEND IN PERSON:

Members of the public are encouraged to attend virtually but may attend in person with modified protocols. Limited Seating is available in the Board Chambers for public participants. Members of the public may also listen to the Board meeting in the Administration Building hall or outside the main entrance. Overflow seating will be available in the building hall if necessary.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Public Comment may be made live during the zoom meeting or live, in person, in the Board Chambers. Available time for comments is determined by the Board Chair based on agenda scheduling demands and the total number of speakers.

Live in Zoom: Public comment during the meeting can be made live by joining the Zoom meeting using the above-provided information. 

In Board Chambers:

Members of the public who wish to comment in the Board Chambers may do so according to the following procedure. Commenters will be requested to line up in the rear of the Chambers when the Board Chair announces Public Comment to commence. Upon completion of a comment, the individual would be asked to exit the Chambers or take a seat.  No standing unless in queue to speak.  This process is to be repeated to comment on any subsequent items.

COMMITMENT TO CIVILITY: The Board of Supervisors has adopted rules of procedures which include a commitment to civility.  To assure civility in its public meetings, the public is encouraged to engage in respectful dialog that supports freedom of speech and values diversity of opinion. Board Members, staff, and members of the public are expected to establish and maintain a cordial and respectful atmosphere during discussions; and foster meaningful dialogue free of personal attacks.  Members of the public must also adhere to the speaking time limit.           

AGENDAS AND MATERIALS:  Agendas and most supporting materials are available on the Board’s website at https://www.sonoma-county.legistar.com/. Due to legal, copyright, privacy or policy considerations, not all materials are posted online.  Materials that are not posted are available for public inspection between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 575 Administration Drive, Room 100A, Santa Rosa, CA.

SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS: Materials related to an item on this agenda submitted to the Board after distribution of the agenda packet are available for public inspection in the Board of Supervisors office at 575 Administration Drive, Room 100A, Santa Rosa, CA, during normal business hours.

APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT CALENDAR: The Consent Calendar includes routine financial and administrative actions that are usually approved by a single majority vote.  There will be no discussion on these items prior to voting on the motion unless Board Members request specific items be discussed and/or removed from the Consent Calendar. There will an opportunity for the public to comment on the consent calendar prior to it being voted upon.
