Florida's Premier Horror Convention

Spooky Empire has been delivering the best sights, sounds and screams to Halloween lovers since 2003. We feature an enormous room of vendors, a film and tattoo festival, music, celebrity speakers, and more to satiate even the most diehard aficionados of the spooky season!

We’ve hosted the premier convention in the south eastern united states twice per year. One in the Spring, and the other all-out mega-convention near Halloween.

Tattoo Festival

Well over 50 artists come for each event. There is sure to be an artist to match everyone’s ink vision.

All of artists are required to follow Florida’s Department of Health’s Requirements. You’re in safe hands!

There is something happening at all hours of the weekend. There is something for the whole family at Spooky Empire.

We’ll be hosting music, costume contests, parties, Q+A sessions, celebrity meetings, classes and more.

8:00pm - 11:30pm: Pre-Con Meet Up Party

Is this your first Spooky Empire? Are you traveling in early and looking for something Spooky to do? Well then join us for this pre-con gathering for new and old Spooky family members. That’s right; you’re now part of the Family! This is a chance for you to kick off your weekend by meeting some of our long time “family” members, volunteers, staff, guests and more, some  who have been attending  for 10 years and more!  A great chance to get to know everyone before the madness sets in.

For our regulars, it's a chance to meet up with old friends, find new ones and make plans for the weekend.

You never know who you'll see there! Some of our best memories have been made before the convention even starts! Let's keep the tradition going. So get there early, find some friends and have a drink. Let's get this party started!

Join us Friday, October 21st for our annual Zombie Walk…hosted by our friends at The Pub Orlando

Kick off begins at 12pm at The Pub located at 9101 International Drive, just down the street from the Hyatt.

Makeup artists will be on hand to help transform you from living to dead (for a small fee), thanks to Post Mortem FX and Horror Happenings with the Dead Girl

The Pub will be offering:

-FREE pint of Elysian Space Dust beer by Elysian Brewing for all zombies!
-Beer, Cocktail and Shot Specials

5:00pm - 7:00pm: Creating a Serial Killer Hockey Mask Prop

Some of the scariest horror film characters have a signature mask that makes them instantly recognizable.

In this workshop, Special Makeup Effects artists Michael and Lynne Burnett will show you how to seam, assemble, paint, distress, and finish your very own realistic film quality hockey mask!

This is a great adult as well as parent/child activity!

You will learn:

Cleaning up and prepping the vacuformed mask
Staining and assembling the leather straps
Painting and distressing the mask
Assembling and adding finishing details to the mask

At the end of the class you will have your very own finished killer hockey mask that you can use for Halloween or when you shoot your next great slasher film!

Due to the limited class time to cover the information, please arrive a few minutes early to the class.

This themed event, “Saturday’s Song”, will be an energetic and entertaining look into the gothic world of the witches hosting the 2022 Central Florida Witches Ball, as they welcome their newest initiates from covens across the land.

Immersive dance party and live stage show. Includes exclusive vendors, drink specials, and a DJ spinning gothic dance music at the afterparty.

12:00pm - 1:00pm: Costume Contest Pre-Judging

This mandatory Pre-Judging Session is for entrants who have handmade their costumes and wish to compete in the Craftsmanship Category of the Costume Contest. Entrants in the Exhibition Category do not need to attend this session. You will have up to three minutes to describe how your costume was made in addition to showing the judges reference pictures and progress pictures of your costume.

2:00pm - 3:30pm: Realistic, Lifelike Prop Eyes on a Budget

They say that the eyes are windows into the soul, and one of the most important parts of creating a lifelike, realistic human or animal prop are the eyes.

Realistic glass eyes are great, you can stick them in a goofy looking prop or even a glob of spray-foam and the whole prop takes on a creepy more eerie look. Unfortunately, glass eyes are expensive, so in this workshop, Michael and Lynne Burnett will show you how to make realistic lifelike eyes for a fraction of what it can cost to buy glass eyes.

This is a great adult as well as parent/child activity!

You will learn:

Different materials to use for eye forms and how to acquire them
Painting and veining techniques
How to add a bubble free clear coat

At the end of the class, you will have two sets of your very own prop eyes to take home with you!

Due to the limited class time to cover the information, please arrive a few minutes early to the class.
