Standard Oil's Roy Friedman Named Legends of Oil Heat Honoree By New England Fuel Institute

The New England Fuel Institute has announced that Roy Friedman, President and CEO of Standard Oil of Connecticut, is a 2017 recipient of their prestigious Legends of Oil Heat honor.  This unique distinction was bestowed upon Mr. Friedman in recognition of his success and leadership in the heating oil industry as well as his dedication to his local community.   After serving his country in World War II, Roy joined his father in the oil and coal business, while still making time to earn a degree from the University of Bridgeport.  In time, Roy expanded and diversified the family business into an award-winning corporation, recognized for service excellence by receiving four first-place awards from the Better Business Bureau, including the International Torch Award for marketplace excellence, the Malcom Baldridge National Quality Award and being voted "Best Oil Company in Connecticut".  Additionally, Mr. Friedman has received numerous personal awards and citations, including the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Bridgeport in 2012.

Today, Roy continues to make numerous philanthropic contributions to his community, donating and fund raising for the Children's Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Alzheimer's Association, the Center for Family Justice, and a long-running campaign to fund breast cancer research.  Mr. Friedman also serves as Executive Board Member to the Alzheimer's Association.  In addition, Roy and his wife Aline, provide nursing care to senior citizens in need through the Roy & Aline Friedman Home Care Service.
