News from the CE Team

Room Remains for Summer Reading Summits Near You!

We still have plenty of space in our upcoming Summer Reading Summits across the state throughout the month of March. Come find inspiration for your library's summer reading program while connecting in person with your fellow librarians.

The agenda includes:

  • "Why Summer Reading Matters" with Janeé Jackson-Doering
  • The Summer Shareout (a lightning round of all the cool things attendees bring to share)
  • Breakout discussions to network and share how you would handle tricky situations that might come up during summer programming

While the STEM Fairs are at capacity (you can join the waitlist), we'd love to have you join us to chat about all things summer programming!

Featured Kernels

Kernels is an ongoing series of prerecorded videos from the State Library. Each installment in the series offers an overview of a program, service, or library methodology applied in a public library setting. They feature in practice librarians talking about what they're up to, so others can benefit & apply that idea in their library.

View on YouTube for informational purposes or in IA Learns for CE credit.

We've got some fresh Kernels in the works, but for now, here are a couple of oldies, but goodies from the archive:

Kernels! Storywalks

Join Angie Manfredi (formerly with the State Library of Iowa) and Phyllis Peter (Newton Public Library) as they chat about how Newton set up a Storywalk.

Kernels! Pleasantville Public Library Transformation

Join Maryann Mori (State Library of Iowa) and JoEllen Glick (Web Shadle Public Library) as they chat about how Pleasantville tapped community support to breathe new life into the library.
