In the coming months, we'll welcome visitors to NW Office Hours. Helen Dagley with the State Library will join us to explain an oral history project through the Iowa Heritage Digital Collection--hear how your library could contribute local oral histories.

And later this spring, look for Ashleigh Matos with WhoFi to join us with an update of new features on the horizon from WhoFi.

ILOC Recordings Posted

Today's Eye-Opener included news that all the recordings from the various ILOC sessions are now posted on the State Library's Continuing Education YouTube Channel.  If you need c.e.credit for watching them, then log into your IALearns account to watch, evaluate, and receive credits.

The Boardroom February 28th: Policy Watch Part 2

The Boardroom Series begins a new year of webinars next Tuesday with a continued discussion of some policy topics not commonly addressed. We started this topic last November in discussing the library board’s role in disaster planning.

In Policy Watch Part 2, Sam Bouwers and I continue the conversation by pointing to policy issues surrounding library programming, social media, and more.  Plus look for an assist with writing by highlighting an approach to policy development known as “The 4 Parts of a Policy.”   There is no requirement to have attended the November session in order to attend this one.

STEM Fairs and Summer Reading Summits in March

Two big C.E. events are on the docket in March.  State Library staff will be conducting a 2-day continuing education event in each District.  The first day is a STEM Fair, the second day is a Summer Reading Summit.

The STEM Fairs are limited to 25 people--at this writing, it looks like there is still room at the NW District location in Cherokee--register soon!  There is no capacity limit for the Summer Reading Summits. Read the full descriptions and register inside IALearns.

About NW District Office Hours

NW District Office Hours are informal gatherings in ZOOM, casual conversations as we talk about whatever issues are top-of-mind.  It's an ideal chance to pose questions of each other and share solutions that work for you.

And for newly hired directors, these sessions are a good networking opportunity--think of this as a virtual meet-and-greet with new colleagues.

Hoping to see many of you take up this opportunity for conversation and collaboration. Choose the dates above that work best for you and join your Northwest Iowa library colleagues in NW Office Hours!
