Supervisors Approve $420,000 in Outside Agency Funding for FY 23/24

PIMA COUNTY, June 21, 2023 – The Pima County Board of Supervisors at its June 20 meeting unanimously approved a combined $420,000 for Outside Agency Funding through the Attractions and Tourism Department for fiscal year 2023/2024.

In total, 23 organizations will receive funding for events, programming, and exhibits over the next 12 months. Some of the organizations receiving funds include Perimeter Bicycling Association of America, Inc., which hosts the annual El Tour de Tucson cycling race; Southwest Folklife Alliance, Inc.; Tucson Botanical Gardens; and the Tucson Children’s Museum.

“Our department’s mission is to ensure that Pima County is a premier destination,” said Diane Frisch, Director, Attractions & Tourism. “By partnering with these organizations, we are continuing that mission and making sure that regardless of your interest or passion there are activities and attractions for you here in Pima County.”

Recommendations for funding come from the Outside Agency Citizen Review Committee, a six-member panel appointed by the Board of Supervisors and County administration. The committee reviews presentations, budgets, and contractual obligations of each outside agency before making recommendation to the Attractions and Tourism Department on which requests to fulfill.
