Sheboygan, WI (April 16, 2024) — Last week during Taste of Sheboygan, Blue Harbor Resort unveiled the inaugural Taste of Sheboygan Cookbook featuring recipes submitted by the public to showcase the unique flavors of the area and elevate Sheboygan as a culinary destination in Wisconsin.

The inaugural Taste of Sheboygan event last week showcased twenty-nine local businesses and twelve local food vendors with Vene’s Pancake House winning the 2024 People’s Choice Award at the end of the evening. Blue Harbor Resort will be donating $5,000 from Taste of Sheboygan proceeds to the Sheboygan County Food Bank to benefit their Food for Thought for Kids program.

Through a partnership with twenty-four local schools, the Food for Thought for Kids program is dedicated to supporting children who are facing hunger in Sheboygan County by providing nutritious food for kids to take home over the weekend.

The Taste of Sheboygan Cookbook will launch an ongoing campaign to raise funds to support this program throughout the year. The cookbook features thirty unique recipes in eight categories: Breakfast, Appetizer, Main Dish, Bread, Soup, Salad, or Side, Dessert, Beverage, and Other.

Common themes among several recipes are the incorporation of brats, cheese, beer, and maple syrup. Sheboygan area companies highlighted in the cookbook include Johnsonville’s Brat-er Tot Casserole, Prange’s Sour Cream Muffins, Sartori’s Ham, Fig, & Merlot Panini, and Austin Foundry Cast Iron Bourbon Peach Crisp, as well as several recipes featuring 3 Sheeps Brewing Company beer.

The cookbook even features Wisconsin’s favorite cocktail in dessert form. The Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet Upside Down Cake recipe takes the classic flavors of brandy, old fashioned mix, cherries, and oranges combined in a sweet and sticky cake, sure to become a Sheboygan favorite.

Overall, there were twenty-three recipe submitters: Lisa K. Adams, Janine Bergeron, Sheila Binder, Mark Brooks, Bob Esler, Janet Esler, Sandra Hillmer, Diane Kramer, Kathleen Leonhardt, Mary Jo Mesich, LeAnn Oertel, Jeremiah Reynolds, Ann Schellinger, Justin Schmitz, Randy Shircel, Judy Tanck, Lee Trotta, Elaine M. Wagner, Ruth Weigel, Austin Foundry Cookware, Blue Harbor Resort, Johnsonville, and Sartori Cheese. Each contributor will receive a complimentary digital copy of the cookbook.

Digital cookbooks are available for purchase online for $15 each with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Sheboygan County Food Bank. To purchase a copy, visit https://www.blueharborresort.com/taste-of-sheboygan-cookbook.
