Government and Politics

November 8, 2022

Election day is Tuesday!

With Election Day literally around the corner, we need your help to continue to spread our message.
Sign up to phone bank today. In October, volunteers made over 100,000 calls to NY21 voters!

Last weekend Matt joined Assemblyman Billy Jones and NYSUT, NYSNA, NYS AFL-CIO, and PEF members for a post card writing and canvass launch - Matt is the only candidate who has labor's back and labor will be instrumental to helping us flip NY-21 blue on Tuesday! Matt then joined Congressman and Amsterdam native Paul Tonko for the always fun Halloween Parade in Amsterdam. Matt also spent the weekend knocking doors in St Lawrence and meeting with voters.

This week, Matt visited local businesses and farms in Herkimer County and then toured Mohawk Valley Ambulance Corps' facility and spoke with first responders about the industry wide challenges they face. On Friday, Matt attended the monthly Capital District Area Labor Federation Breakfast with labor leaders and union members, where everyone was fired up to vote for pro-labor candidates this Tuesday!

In addition, after holding in-person town halls in all 15 counties, Matt held a virtual town hall on Thursday for anyone who was unable to join! Missed a town hall in your area? You can check them out on our YouTube channel.

Election day is this Tuesday!
How will you help turn out every vote and ensure we win?

On Friday, in our endorsement of U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, we reasoned that voters should not just toss out someone like the Senate majority leader who has gained such substantial power in Congress, or at least not without good reason. Today, we offer a host of reasons why voters in the 21st Congressional District should do exactly that with Rep. Elise Stefanik, one of the most toxic politicians in America today.

November 1, 2022, The Daily Gazette, Political Scientist: Defeating Tonko, Stefanik a ‘very, very tough enterprise’
It’s up to independent and potentially rogue registered voters to unseat two household names from Congress.
It’s only happened twice in the last 20 years within comparatively purple districts for Democrats: Kirsten Gillibrand ousting Rep. John Sweeney in 2006; and Antonio Delgado ousting Rep. John Faso in 2018. It happened once for a moderate Republican when Chris Gibson defeated Rep. Scott Murphy in 2010. Neither incumbent ran again.

Stefanik’s record.
