This Thursday, Elise Stefanik was a no-show to a scheduled debate with NBC5. 
 
While Matt Castelli has agreed to all 5 debates offered to both candidates (WWNY, Mountain Lake PBS, WTEN, NBC5, WENT), Stefanik has not even responded to the outlets that have offered to host. 

This is a direct affront to the voters who deserve to hear from their candidates in a debate. Last election cycle, Stefanik agreed to three debates.

Matt was offered the opportunity to speak to the voters in her absence. Watch below.

From the Trail

Last week Matt welcomed athletes and families from across New York to the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics New York Fall Games. He then joined Assemblywoman Woerner in Glens Falls and Assemblyman Santabarbara in Amsterdam, knocking on doors and speaking with voters.
 
This week, Matt met with NY-21 veterans, discussing issues impacting veterans in the district, and the importance of making it easier to ensure access to the care and benefits they deserve. He then participated in a roundtable with NY21 farmers to talk about the challenges they face, and the advocacy they need in Washington to fight for family-owned farms in Upstate New York. On Thursday, Matt joined Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado and other great candidates for a Get Out the Vote rally in Rensselaer County, to kickoff the start of early voting and our work to flip NY-21 blue!
 
In addition, this week Matt held town halls in Warren, Rensselaer, and Clinton counties, honoring his pledge to meet with voters in all 15 counties in our district. Missed a town hall in your area? You can check them out on our YouTube channel.

With days to go before the consequential midterm election that will determine control of the next Congress, NBC5 is airing a new interview with Matt Castelli, Democratic nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives for northern New York (NY-21) taped at a debate hall Thursday.

Republican U.S. Rep Elise Stefanik was invited to the event but did not show up, citing a scheduling conflict.

Castelli is a former CIA officer and Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council who served in both the Obama and Trump White Houses. He was campaigning throughout the North Country last week hoping to unseat the incumbent Elise Stefanik in November. Castelli brands himself as a ‘moderate’ Democrat working to find ‘common ground among all constituents.’
