From the Trail

Team Castelli is criss-crossing every corner of #NY-21 to get our message out! Last week Matt attended the Lewis County Cream Cheese Festival in Lowville, the Warren County annual golf tournament, and the Fulton County Democratic Party Picnic. Matt also attended events in Whallonsburg and Massena, where he had the opportunity to meet with voters from across the district.

This week Matt met with Federal Prison Guards and AFGE Local 3882 Members working at the Federal Correctional Institution at Ray Brook to learn more about prison operations and listen to their concerns over understaffing, and unsafe working conditions. You can read more about the meeting and Stefanik's failure to meet with officers at Ray Brook here.

We are into the final weeks of this campaign and we need your help to continue to spread our message. Sign up to phone bank today!

Social Media

We've been getting our message out on social media. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for the most up to date items from the campaign.

This week we focused on Stefanik refusing to debate Matt Castelli, support for law enforcement, Stefanik's push for a nationwide abortion ban, and the ADE straw poll showing the strength of this race.

In the Press

We've been getting our message out in the press as well:

September 24, 2022, Post Star, AFL-CIO endorses Castelli

September 23, 2022, Adirondack Daily Enterprise, Stefanik, Castelli campaigns spar over Ray Brook

RAY BROOK – The Federal Correctional Institution at Ray Brook has become a touchpoint in the NY-21 congressional race between incumbent Republican Elise Stefanik and Democratic challenger Matt Castelli as the two candidates are locked in a debate over who “backs the blue” more, each candidate accusing the other of not supporting law enforcement as much as they claim.

Castelli has accused Stefanik of not “backing the blue” because she has not visited with union officials at the prison, who have for months wanted to talk about staffing shortages there. Stefanik’s campaign says she keeps in contact with local corrections officers and has supported them throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

September 21, 2022, Press-Republican, Castelli calls NRA ‘Corrupt’

Matt Castelli, the Democrat running for the 21st Congressional District against Rep. Elise Stefanik, on Monday denounced the National Rifle Association and its endorsement of his opponent, and said he would not support a ban on assault weapons sales.

The NRA’s Political Victory Fund released its most recent legislative scorecard last week, giving Rep. Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, an “A” rating, indicating she is among the most fervent anti-gun control legislators in Congress. The NRA has also endorsed the congresswoman in her run for reelection.
