Totally Tempe Tuesdays are Back!

Our Totally Tempe Tuesday programs are back and better than ever! To support the Summer Reading program, which runs from June 1 to August 1, the library will host a family-orientated Totally Tempe Tuesday program starting at 2 p.m. every Tuesday through July 18.

Come join us today as we kick-off Totally Tempe Tuesdays with a visit from Wildman Phil and all of his amazing animals. Sign-up for Summer Reading and receive a voucher for a free lemonade or iced tea from the Friends of Library's Connections Café at the library and a $1 Bookstore Buck to use at the Friends Bookstore also in the library. Check the rest of the Totally Tempe Tuesday schedule here.

Our Summer Reading program isn't just for kids. Teens and adults can join us this summer for activities, programs, bingo cards and some very special prizes that are just for teens and adults.

Art Installation @ TPL

Birds of a Feather

Artist Sarah Hurwitz has brought the summer reading theme of "All Together Now" about friendship, kindness and unity to life throughout the library. The installation, "Birds of a Feather," features hundreds of birds made out of recycled book pages.
Sarah's inspiration was the idiom "birds of a feather flock together." She liked the idea that we all work together to create a library space that is welcoming for all members of the community.

There is an accompanying field guide which lists the birds around the library and includes book recommendations from library staff based on each bird's genre (examples: Fan Fiction Finch and Poetry Peacock, etc.). Stop by the library's Connections Cafe on Wednesday, June 7, from 6 to 7 p.m. to celebrate the installation. More Information

The Lonely Hearts Book Club

Librarian Sloane Parker and Arthur, an old curmudgeon who comes to browse the shelves everyday and cheerfully insult her, forge the unlikeliest of friendships after Sloane becomes concerned when Arthur stops coming to the library. She finds him bedridden and desperately lonely, so she creates an impromptu book club to cheer Arthur up.

Author Lucy Gilmore has written a charming, feel-good novel about one misfit book club and the lives (and loves) it changes along the way.

Juneteenth Closure

The library will be closed on Monday, June19 for Juneteenth. Click here for a list of library holiday closure dates.
