Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded E.C. Loomis Insurance Associates a 2024 Make More Happen Award for its volunteerism with the American Cancer Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives, celebrating lives, and leading the fight for a world without cancer. The award includes an initial donation of $5,000 for the American Cancer Society which can be doubled to $10,000 just by having community supporters vote online.

Starting Friday, March 1, the E.C. Loomis Insurance Associates and the American Cancer Society community story will be highlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at https://www.agentgiving.com/EC-Loomis/, where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives a mix of at least 500 votes and comments, the $5,000 donation will be raised to $10,000.

The American Cancer Society is committed to making an impact in the fight against cancer. The $10,000 donation will stay within the community, ensuring that those battling cancer receive crucial support including rides to and from treatment, enabling patients to access necessary care conveniently. Additionally, the donation will help cover hotel stays for individuals who must travel for specialized treatment.

We are honored and incredibly grateful for being awarded the 2024 Make More Happen Award so we can continue to help our community and give back even more to the American Cancer Society,” said Dorine Bolterman, former office manager of E.C. Loomis Insurance Associates. “The American Cancer Society has had a significant impact in the lives of several agency staff and they are thrilled to double the donation with community support.”

E.C. Loomis Insurance Associates got involved with the nonprofit when Joseph Cabassi, one of the agency owners died at age 50 from brain cancerThe agency formed a team with the Relay for Life of Central Coast, its signature fundraiser, in his memory called Joe’s Crew in 2015. Since then, other agency members have been impacted by cancer, making the organization near and dear to their hearts with an ongoing effort in raising cancer awareness in the community through year-round fundraising activities.

“Recognizing independent agents’ dedication to their communities and nonprofit partners is what the Make More Happen Awards is all about,” said Jen Rolbiecki, Safeco Southern California Region Senior Territory Manager. “E.C. Loomis Insurance Associates is a shining example of the amazing work agents do in the Central Coast-area and we hope by sharing inspiring stories motivates others to do the same.”
