The Center for Education Reform : You Oughta Be in Pictures!

Arts and Entertainment

Dear Friend,

If you are too young to know that reference, it’s from a 1934 Rudy Valee song which just popped in my head when I was thinking about writing you about helping remarkable education entrepreneurs score a major win in the Yass Prize competition this year!

I grew up with random music played in my house, and lots of great late night movies on TV which I wasn’t supposed to be up watching! They were captivating, hard to shut off. Kind of like the people we have encountered that have become part of our efforts to transform education!

We can’t stop watching Cris Gullacy-Worrel talk about her “why” in pitching the Yass Prize judges at last year’s Accelerator. Or Wade Moore talking about why his kids can succeed like no other in Wichita.  How about Cory Steiner, the public school superintendent who took innovation to a whole new level in getting rid of seat  time and instead measuring students,

who are now newly engaged, in how competent they are, how much they know, not how long they’ve been learning it. What a concept!

These folks are going to be in pictures. Some already arehaving been on TV, in newsreels and YouTube videos. And they are definitely in Forbes, which I need you to click on right now and read. Our visionary leader Janine Yass has put her heart and soul into building a new bridge for educators and entrepreneurs of all kinds to come together. She highlights just a few of them in her piece this week in Forbes.

But here’s the best part. That could be YOU next year, or someone you know! If you find yourself humming “you oughta be in pictures” next time you see that special magic in a classroom, on a field, in a museum, a microschool or even with game-based learning, send them to YassPrize.org, so they can get ready to submit their application for the 2023 Yass Prize and STOP Awards competition.

Because, hey, you never know - they could be in pictures! We’ll do our best to get them there!
