International Excursions

In early 2024, EcoTravel is offering two exciting birding opportunities! Our new trip to Morocco, touching on the stunning bids of Northern Africa, ranges from the Atlas Mountains to the fringes of the Sahara, the largest hot desert on the planet. We're also featuring our return to Cuba, where we'll explore the vast habitats and learn about the hard work that the Caribbean Conservation Trust has undertaken to protect the habitats and wildlife of the largest Caribbean island.

Call us for more information, including full detailed day-by-day itineraries, on both of these upcoming trips!

Morocco: Gateway to the Sahara

March 6 – 17, 2024   12 Days!

Though its closest point is just 10 miles from Spain, Morocco acts as a gateway to North Africa, including the third-largest desert in the world: the Sahara. Situated on the Mediterranean Basin and considered a hotspot for conservation, the region offers a unique mix of European and African avifauna. In fact, Morocco is the best place to see many North African species, including usually difficult-to-find residents of the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara. Enjoy not only the diversity of the region, but the unique culture as well!

Cuba’s Birds, Culture, and Landscapes

March 21 – 29, 2024   Nine Days!

This program is coordinated under U.S. Government authorization through the Connecticut-based Caribbean Conservation Trust. In addition to EcoTravel Director Andy Griswold, our team will include esteemed Cuban biologist Dr. Giraldo Alayon and expert local naturalists who will guide you through the Caribbean’s largest and most ecologically diverse island nation. While there’ll be daily opportunities to see many birds, including the World’s smallest, the Bee Hummingbird, our focus expands to include a range of Cuban fauna and flora, along with the ecology and history of regions we visit. We’ll also enjoy opportunities to swim and snorkel, and to encounter some of Cuba’s interesting marine life in a safe, natural habitat. Our informal discussions will expose the main issues of conservation in the Cuban Archipelago, and our Cuban guide will answer your questions and offer explanations of Cuban history, politics, and daily living.

Leaders : Andy Griswold and Giraldo Alayon.

Fee: $6,498. Members: $5,498.
