Metamora, MI -- The Metamora Historical Society (MHS) invites the community to join in "An Afternoon in Ireland" at the Historic Old Town Hall. The casual event will bring a wee bit o'Ireland to you with cookies and green punch -- to music, dancing, and arts from local performers and artists!
Debbie Freeman, Owner and Operator of Tir Na N'Og Gaelic Dance Group, will bring culture to the old town hall along with several dancers that are diversified in the music and arts of Ireland. Freeman, originally from Ireland, has competed and teaching Irish dance for the past 8 years throughout the Lapeer and surrounding counties. Dancers (ranging in age from 4 to 70) will entertain and demonstrate Irish Step Dancing, Sean Nos Steps, and Ceili Dance to you, as well as sing a few Irish songs. Before you know it, you may be singing and dancing a jig or two!
Corinne "Sparkles" Smith is the creator behind Fun with Sparkles!, a local family entertainment company providing face painting, balloon twisting, magic shows, glitter tattooing and more to your group, client or party guests! Sparkles will be available, for an additional fee of $5 per person, to transform you into an ole' Leprechaun or even a three-leaf clover with face painting -- or you can opt out for a glitter tattoo or balloon art!
Do you have the luck of the Irish? Your purchase of a $5 admission ticket to "An Afternoon in Ireland" guarantees you a chance at luck in our Wee Bit of a Raffle! The raffle consists of a bit of Irish from a customized balloon bouquet -- to an Irish gift basket (with coffee and local honey) and complimentary Irish dance lessons for up to one month! Tickets will be available at the door beginning at 3:45pm. Children 12 and under are free.
The MHS members would like to thank the wonderful sponsors for bringing a wee bit o'Ireland to the Metamora community -- High Street Eatery and Metacare Inc. Proceeds to benefit the Tir Na N'Og Gaelic Dance Group for continuing to bring the love of Irish dancing to communities throughout Michigan.
Date and Time: Sunday, March 16 from 4:00pm-5:30pm
Location: The town hall is located at 26 E. High Street, Metamora, MI.
