The Wichita Police Department (WPD) has arrested 43-year-old Mareo Dupree of Wichita on a charge of Aggravated Battery. The arrest stems from an investigation into a stabbing that injured a 42-year-old female in the 1300 block of South Broadway.   

At approximately 6:20 pm, Wednesday, Officers were dispatched to a stabbing in the 1300 block of South Broadway. Upon arrival, Officers located the victim with non-life-threatening injuries to her back torso area. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.  

The investigation revealed that there was an altercation between the victim and Dupree leading the victim to be stabbed.

This is not a random incident and Dupree and the victim are believed to be known to each other.

The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office.
