This July, 'We Rise Up For Parks And Recreation' At Tucson Parks And Recreation

Government and Politics

July 4, 2022

From: City Of Tucson

This July, join Tucson Parks and Recreation for Park and Recreation Month, as we celebrate a stronger, more vibrant, and more resilient Tucson, because of parks and recreation. Tucson is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), by inviting our community to share their experiences, memories, and stories about what parks and recreation means to them. We are bringing attention to how important it is to rise up and support the field of parks and recreation, because every day, park and recreation professionals rise up for their communities in service of equity, climate readiness, and overall health and well-being.

“Investing in our parks and natural spaces is an investment in Tucson families,” said Tucson Mayor Regina Romero. “Four years ago, Tucsonans approved Prop 407, which is allowing us to invest 225 million to improve our pools, splash pads, sports fields, shaded playgrounds, and other resources that help deliver free recreational opportunities to families throughout the city. This July, we celebrate not only our infrastructure progress, but our people—the City of Tucson recreation workers who engage with our community to bring these investments to life.”

Tucson Parks and Recreation is leading initiatives and providing opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and identities to achieve healthier lifestyles, promote and understand nature and environmental resilience, as well as bringing the community closer through a variety of programs and services. With everything from outdoor amenities, aquatics, and indoor fitness facilities to kid's camps, senior programs, mobile recreation, and leisure classes, there are plenty of ways that you can celebrate with us.

Join Tucson Parks and Recreation at five free pool parties to help us celebrate Parks and Recreation Month. Events will include Ready, Set, Rec! vans with games and activities, food, music, inflatables, pool fun, and more.
