Chris Johnson has been selected as the Town of Apple Valley’s Employee of the Quarter for the 2nd quarter of 2022.

“Chris has taken initiative and stepped above his regular duties to lead several key projects and provide administrative functions for the department,” said Innovation and Technology Officer, Brandon Cales. “Recently, he successfully transitioned the Town Council to a new agenda management system and migrated them to their own Town email accounts, which involves several unique challenges. He continually takes action beyond expectation and sets the bar for customer service and level of support he provides to Town Staff and the public.”

Chris began working for the Town in the fall of 2019 as an Innovation and Technology (IT) Specialist, providing much needed networking and systems support. Today, as the Innovation and Technology Coordinator, Chris administers the Town's network and is responsible for vital projects such as the wireless systems, Recreation software, cashiering and phone systems.

“Chris has played a vital role over the past few years in the revitalization of the employee help desk, and the replacement of all Town network infrastructure at Civic Center, Public Works, and Animal Services,” said Mayor Kari Leon. “We are very pleased with the efforts of both Chris and his team in keeping our computer systems efficient and up to date.”

“It’s been a great opportunity to work in Apple Valley,” said Johnson. “Being a part of the team who is responsible for building the foundations of new systems and infrastructure is always exciting. I grew up in the high desert and attended school locally. It just feels like home here.”

Johnson was recognized as the Employee of the Quarter at the May 24 Town Council meeting.

Nominations for Employee of the Quarter are submitted by peers or management and honorees are selected by the Town Manager.
