Electric Vehicle Ride & Drive Event

If you’ve ever wondered the reasons drivers make the switch to electric vehicles, the Erie EV Showcase event on Oct. 29 will allow you to ask real drivers why they switched. EVs are fun and safe to drive, can save you money, and promote cleaner air quality. Plus, with the increasing number of EV charging stations, charging anxiety is becoming a thing of the past! Join local drivers to ask questions about what it's like to drive an EV in the mountains or about the best strategies for charging on a road trip or even take a test drive of an EV for yourself! Come enjoy FREE tacos and good company at the Erie Community Center on Oct. 29 from 1-3 p.m. Learn more about electric vehicles and charging stations in Erie

Boo! On Briggs Street

Ghouls, ghosts, and witches! Oh my! Join us to enjoy a spook-tacular time with the entire family at the Town’s annual trick-or-treat event. There will be plenty of candy to go around with additional activities including music and a costume contest. This is a FREE event for all ages, but there will be a small fee for contest entries. The event will be in Downtown Erie along Briggs Street from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. Visit www.erieco.gov/1429/Boo-on-Briggs-Street for more information.

Erie Police Department Halloween Safety Stop

This year's Safety Stop is all about mischief and mayhem - Gotham style. This event (held at the Erie Police Department on Oct. 31 at 4 p.m.) brings several challenges, including solving the Riddler’s hunt through the building, using Harley Quinn's decoder, and Superhero Training, ending with a photo opportunity with the Dark Knight himself. For details, visit www.erieco.gov/Police.

Weld County Electronics Recycling Event

The Weld County Household Hazardous Waste Program is providing a FREE electronic waste recycling event on Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Frederick High School, 5690 Tipple Parkway. Registration isn’t required, but those who register will be allowed to skip some possible lines. This is a free event for Weld County residents only. No other wastes will be accepted during this event. This is for residential waste only; no business waste will be accepted, and no trailers are allowed. Visit the Weld County webpage for more details.

Medicare Open Enrollment is Now Active

Participating Medicare enrollees can connect with Boulder County Area Agency on Aging certified Medicare counselors beginning Oct. 20. Each year, from Oct. 15-Dec. 7, users of Medicare can review and change prescription drug plans (Part D) or Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C.) These plans can change costs, coverage, providers, and pharmacies, so it is important for enrollees to review the current plan and see if there is a better plan for 2023. Boulder County Medicare Counselors are State Health Insurance Programs (SHIP) certified and provide quality and unbiased information to anyone needing advice. Call BCAAA's Medicare Appointment Counseling Line at 303-441-1546 or email [email protected] to get the scheduling process started. Learn more about Medicare Counseling services at boco.org/Medicare.

Town of Erie Cone Zones

Summer is the season for major road improvement projects. Each week we list the projects that may have the biggest impact on traffic flow for that week. As always, please sign up for alerts to get more details about these projects and many others. More information and details for how to sign up are at www.erieco.gov/ConeZone.

- Crack Seal Operations - Beginning Oct. 10, a contractor started applying a hot poured crack seal material to arterial and collector streets throughout Erie as well as neighborhoods including Arapahoe Ridge, Candlelight Estates, Brennan by the Lake, Grandview, Vista Pointe Estates, and Vista Pointe. We anticipate all crack sealing to be complete by mid-November, weather permitting.

- WCR 7 & Erie Parkway – WCR 7 is open both north and south of Erie Parkway. The week of Oct. 17 is scheduled for native seed replacement and landscaping repair to the disturbed area.

Foundations for the new stoplight signal are currently under construction; two of the four foundations are completed. Signal installation scheduled for end of 2022 or beginning of 2023.

- WCR 5: Concrete repair along sidewalks at Flora View Drive are complete. Ongoing landscaping work along WCR 5 continues in medians and includes minor grading, seeding, plantings of trees and shrubs, and installing boulders and cobble.

Any street impacts are restricted to occur from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the school week.

Road work is weather-dependent, and timelines may shift. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should always be aware and use caution when in and around work zones. Whenever possible, please avoid the construction areas.
