Highlights include information about: the new session of courses for Lifelong Learners; the Health Department Flu clinic scheduled for Tuesday, October 16th and Wednesday, October 17th; and Operation Gratitute, a Halloween Candy drive to support our troops.
For those of you who are having difficulty opening our links, highlights are below.
Class Announcements: Due to the Health Department Flu Clinic, the gym is closed to all activities from Monday at 12:00 p.m. through Wednesday night (Monday morning classes are on as scheduled). All classes will resume as scheduled Thursday morning.
Flu Clinic: The Fairfield Health Department will host two flu clinics this season for adults and children age 5 and older. These clinics will be held on Tuesday, October 16th from 10am-7pm and Wednesday, October 17th from 11am-5pm. Both clinics will take place at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities in the Gymnasium (100 Mona Terrace, Fairfield).
Friends' Fall Thursdays: Advance registration required. $5 per person.Thursday, October 18:GOOD VIBRATIONS: THE GREATEST HITS OF THE MID 1960s (1963-6). Gary Theroux, musicologist, author and Emmy nominee, presents a three-part entertainment-packed presentation series bringing to vivid life the unforgettable best-loved golden greats of the 1960s.
Veterans Needed! The 8th Grade Class of Tomlinson Middle School is hosting a Veteran's Day Ceremony on Friday, November 9th at 9am. Members who are Veterans are invited to attend. The ceremony will include a slideshow presentation that recognizes Veterans who are a part of the Fairfield Community. The students would like Veteran attendees to be a part of this special slide show presentation. If you would like to participate, please bring in to Melissa DiVito, one photo (a copy will be made) of yourself from when you served and complete an accompanying Info Sheet. The signup sheet for this event and the Slide Show Info Sheet will be at the Front Desk. You can attend the event without being a part of the slide show. You must RSVP to Melissa (203-256-3166) for this event and provide all slide show information no later than October 26th.
Excess Halloween Candy Drive for our Heroes: Operation Gratitude - Help us send treats to all those who serve. Fairfield Social Services will be collecting excess Halloween candy and DENTAL FLOSS to all those who serve. Operation Gratitude's mission is to life the spirits and meet the evolving needs of those who serve our nation. Donations due by Monday, November 5. Donation drop location: Bigelow Center at 100 Mona Terrace. For more information, please call 203-256-3166.
Lifelong Learners: New session begins Monday, October 15. Please check the website for the latest catalog.
New Trip: The Drowsy Chaperone at the Goodspeed Opera House. Monday, November 19, 2018. Cost: $100 per person includes lunch at the Gelston House. Limit: 15. GBT bus leaves the Bigelow Center at 10:30 a.m. Lunch is at 12 Noon. The show begins at 2:00 p.m.
AquaTurf Trip: Bob Hope USO! Monday, November 12, 2018. Bob Hope's life in comedy comes to life once again with this look-a-like & sound-a-like tribute to the legendary comedian, featuring: Bill Johnson and Holly Faris. Bill has performed his tribute to the troops as the late, great Bob Hope across the US and South Pacific to Rave Reviews!! No dancing for this one! $60 per person includes Coach bus from the Bigelow Center leaving at 9:30; complimentary coffee and donuts upon arrival; complimentary glass of beer or wine with lunch.
