FY23 Budget Adopted

On June 21 Town Council adopted the Budget for Fiscal Year 2023, which runs July 1 - June30. After navigating the pandemic and resulting challenges with labor shortages and rising inflation, this year’s FY23 budget is focused on five Community Priority areas including Core Services, the Environment, Health & Human Services, Multimodal Transportation, and Affordable and Employee Housing. These areas of focus demonstrate Council’s priorities, help community members understand the budget, and show how public dollars are invested back into sustaining our high quality of life and stable future. CLICK HERE to access the recommended budget and find the final, approved budget on this same page later this summer.

Jackson Police Learning Spanish

Chief of Police Michelle Weber has identified the need to strengthen her department's connection with the Spanish speaking segment of our community, so Jackson's Police Department (JPD) is investing in helping its staff learn and improve their Spanish language skills. To that end, the JPD recently sent three staff members to Costa Rice for a two-week Spanish Immersion program focused specifically on grammar and vocabulary related to public safety. The three JPD staff members stayed with host families, which meant they were speaking in Spanish from dawn 'til dusk each day. Over the two weeks, these Town staff members were able to focus entirely on improving their language skills as they visited different places in Costa Rica and interacted with local law enforcement and other officials. Sergeant Jeremiah Peery, pictured here at a party with his Costa Rican host family, recently spoke about the experience on our local radio station. CLICK HERE
