Holiday Town Building Closings and Trash Collection Schedule
Monday, December 26, and Monday, January 2 are observed holidays for most non-emergency Town employees.

Town Offices:
Closed on Monday, December 26 and Monday, January 2

Community Center:
Closed Saturday, December 24 through Monday, December 26
Closed Saturday, December 31 - Monday, January 2

Cary Library:
Closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, December 24, 25, and 26
Closed Saturday, December 31, and Sunday and Monday, January 1 and 2

Trash Collection & Hartwell Composting Facility:
No curbside trash collection on Monday, December 26, and the rest of the week will be on a one day delay.
No curbside trash collection on Monday, January 2, and the rest of the week will be on a one day delay.
The Hartwell Avenue Composting Facility is closed starting Saturday, December 24 and will re-open on Tuesday, January 3.

Curbside Christmas Tree Collection

Curbside Christmas tree collection will be during the first two weeks of January.

Please remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, and other objects, and place separately from trash and recycling at curbside. Trees in plastic bags will not be collected.

Through this program you can connect with a trained Energy Advisor who will help you explore clean heating and cooling technology, find local and reputable contractors, compare quotes, and take advantage of available rebates and incentives.

Upcoming Vaccine Clinics
Lexington Public Schools will be hosting vaccination clinics at least once a month through through June 2023. Get vaccinations for COVID and Flu, as well as "catch up" vaccinations - TDAP, MMR or Meningitis.
These clinics are available to anyone in the Lexington community.
These clinics will be held at the Lexington Public Schools Central Administration Office, 146 Maple Street (enter via Lowell St.)

FREE 15-Week Adult Career Programs in January at Minuteman Tech.
Register now for FREE adult career programs that begin in January at Minuteman Technical Institute (MTI) in Lexington:

Carpentry
CNC Machine Operator
Facilities Management
Plumbing (Tier 1)

These programs are FREE for anyone who earns less than $63,900 gross annually in Middlesex County due to support from the Mass. Workforce Skills Cabinet. MTI is an excellent opportunity for anyone over 18 interested in pursuing a career trade, including recent high school graduates.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday & 10th Annual MLK Day of Service
The Town of Lexington will hold our 30th commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with our 10th Annual MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 16 by shepherding our community to take part in assisting those in need.

Our objective is to engage and mobilize people of all ages to participate in events and activities to serve others.

There also will be morning and afternoon programming both virtually and in-person on Jan. 16, including the annual community conversation on race, unity walk, free minds poetry, and much more.

Weigh in on Proposed Zoning Amendment for Multi-Family Zoning on January 4

After a recent housing workshop, the Planning Board is continuing to work towards a zoning amendment proposal to permit multi-family housing.

The Planning Board is holding public work sessions on this topic at their regularly scheduled meetings, and public participation is welcome and encouraged. 

The next Planning Board meeting is Wednesday, January 4 on Zoom at 6:00 pm. The League of Women Voters will host a First Friday Forum on January 6 at 9:30 am at the Cary Memorial Library where the new state law will be summarized, an update on where Lexington is on the process, and answer questions.

The Board is working towards bringing forward a zoning amendment for Annual Town Meeting 2023.

COVID-19 Data; Test Kits Available at Town Buildings

The Lexington Office of Public Health will update weekly COVID-19 case numbers each Friday. The data represented on the dashboard DOES NOT include at-home test results. The data only represents results of PCR and antigen tests verified through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Free at-home rapid COVID-19 test kits are available at Town buildings across Lexington.

You can pick up a test at the following locations:

- Town Office Building (Health Office) - 1625 Massachusetts Avenue

- Fire Department - 45 Bedford Street

- Police Department - 173 Bedford Street

- Community Center - 39 Marrett Road

- Visitors Center - 1875 Massachusetts Avenue

- Public Services Building - 201 Bedford Street

Test kits are available during regular business hours (Police Dept. open 24/7) while supplies last.
