Marana celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month with local art

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in Marana

Marana- The Town of Marana marked the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month with a live painting and Mexican paper flower crafts at Concerts in the Courtyard on Thursday, September 15th.

Local artist Victor Navarro participated in a live painting demonstration at the event in the Marana Municipal Complex.

“This means a lot to me because being from Mexican descent, born in Mexico coming to the United States as an immigrant and sharing my culture with the Marana town is absolutely a tremendous honor,” said Victor Navarro.

Tucson based Lucky Cat Social Art was also at the event with supplies for the community to make Mexican paper flowers.

“My family comes from multiple different countries so it is an honor to come here representing my mom’s business. It is a wonderful opportunity and I’m very grateful,” said Lucky Cat artist Nolan Patterson.

“Being here in the State of Arizona, Sonora, we are a bi-cultural region. It is nice to kind of have that impact over the border sharing our culture,” said Navarro.
