Town of Scituate : A Message from Emergency Management

Government and Politics

January 20, 2023

From: Town of Scituate

We are forecast to be impacted by heavy rain with some snow mixing this evening through Friday with moderate east to northeast winds & potential minor coastal flooding.

The heaviest rain is expected overnight into Friday morning likely ending as snow for a brief period. We do not anticipate any power issues due to the wind gusts forecast to be less than 30mph.

Our primary concern is the potential minor coastal flooding due to the astronomical high tides that will last through next Wednesday. From Friday through Wednesday we anticipate some flood potential in our low-lying areas during the morning to mid-day high tides.

With the north easterly winds tomorrow & the 9:17am high tide (11’) there may be some splash over along our low-lying coastal roads & be aware of parking in the Mill Wharf & Cole Parkway lots as they will likely flood between 8am-11am.

There is a second storm predicted for Sunday evening into Monday. At this time, it is forecast to be rain with stronger winds but that could change so please stay informed.

Be well & stay safe!
